Hi Laurie, I agree with what you have said - I too would like to keep this great site above bickering and name calling.

You have to wonder how this topic took on a life of its own (even I jumped in).  I'm sure in the eyes of some, there were mistakes and delays in executing the rescue of the young lady and these folks have a right to those opinions.  But somehow this topic ended up focusing on the wrong end of the stick instead of the end result.  Through the efforts of many, the young lady was rescued, and she is OK and home with her family.  I'm sure the fire and rescue people will review their actions, at the appropriate time, with any eye towards making improvements where necessary.

Maybe the old adage should apply here and now - all's well that ends well.

LaurieT, I happen to be included in your rant about how we were only talking about past memebers and this is the first flood problem, you also said that our postings had nothing to do with how the rescue went. My posting has everything to do with how the rescue went my referance to the past memebers are there because i know them my family knows them and we know that had they been there it wouldnt have taken four hours to rescue that poor girl.

Hi Joe....very realistic sentiment! All is well that ends well... so few see things for what they are! It's so easy to sit home and arm chair quarterback with a cup of coffee

Hi xtarax05..I'm sorry if you felt my post was bombastic or declamatory. I merely observed sentiment from 3 postings in a row referring to previous members. Hardly a rant!

To Laurie T:

I speak from experience about what has gone on at the fire company thru the years, you don't. You are going on what you have been told by the powers that be.

Smells like a VOTE to me.

ry1958.....what experience? and what vote are you pertaining to? I see first hand what I speak of, and I make my own observations. Im sure you know who I am, why hide behind your username, who are you? If you cant or wont answer, its because your experience is lacking, and your rhetoric is too weak .

Hi Ry  it's "professional" by the way   and no hyphen between the words "goes" and "on".  Figures you wouldn't reveal yourself because everything you say is spoken with malign..

Looks like you got cut off before on the message board, oh well you will be cut-off from any business from family and friends as well.

Im sharing this to show the character of the people who have perpetuated this fiasco over the past week. It is one thing to dish it out, another to be able to take it. I guess my spellcheck help pushed a button?

I know a secret about you and one more post, everyone else in Newton will know too, just try me............
Keep your mouth shut when you don't know what your talking about.

I copied and pasted the above from my personal messages from this person, as I did my previous post. I don't take kindly to threats. This started as a difference of opinions, and turned into attacks on families in our community, and now to myself personally. I will not participate further on this subject, as it has gone as far south as it can go, and nothing productive can come out of this. [/u]

My final word on the subject:

If you can't take it, don't dish it out.

Well, I don’t know when this turned from the happenings the night of the flood to personal attacks on people. But I personally am here to express how angry I am at the fact that it took four hours for every fire company there to save the young girl. And I think that they all need more training! This shouldn’t have happened. everyone on here can stick up for every one on every fire company but in my opinion it was unorganized and unnecessary. there were many mistakes made, they need to be acknowledged.. There were many neighbors and friends offering to help and no one on the fire companies would give them a chance, for whatever reason. But it looks to me like it was all about who got the publicity. In the news paper it says a member of the fire company found the girl. That is not true her father, grandfather, and uncle found her. There is a prime example of people trying to take all the glory. And every one is saying that we should all just be happy that she is okay. But could anyone here imagine what it would be like to know that  your daughter, sister, nice, grand-daughter or girl friend , was in an accident. Then find out she was not in her car and you have no clue where she is. Next you hear her screaming for help but the fire company insists it’s a deer. You find her standing in the middle of a flooding creek, then have to wait four hours to make sure she is okay. While at some point the rescue crew get on the same side as her and not one of them has the common sense to get someone to hold on to her, or put a jacket on her. What would you be thinking? how would you feel? I’m sure you would not be happy with the way things were handled. We are all very grateful for her safe return home, my problem is that there were many times that things could have gotten terribly worse. And because no one was taking charge and every one was to stuck up on their high horses to listen to any one, the girl had to wait four hours!

Fools,,,Damm Fools,

What is the matter with you people.  You have a brand new fire hall with top notch equipment.  These people are VOLUNTEERS.  They do it for the good of their Community.

The specialized training for water rescue doesn't come in a cracker jack box.  These highly trained people are few and far between,,,the reason we have multiple companys respond to ANY type of specialized rescue.

The attitude that some of you people have on here that rescues are ' Shake and Bake " jobs are exactly why rescuers DIE.

To the ,,I certainly won't call you a firefighter,,,member of Newton Fire that likes to use the MINIMAL knowledge he has of the fire service to bash YOUR FIRE DEPARTMENT,,,you are nothing and know nothing.  This fact is quite evident in your post.  Wasting what little energy you have in bashing your company will change nothing.  Save your energy,,read a book.

okay Axe, you call us fools because we have a problem with the trianing of our fire companies, but what if that was you out their? would you want to know that the volunteers that were trying to save you were untrained. we may have the new building and the equitment but there is very minimal common sense. you can call me a fool, you can call me anyhting you want. and beleive me i am not only complaining about the newton ransom fire company its all of them that were there. you say that the specalized training for water rescue doesnt come from a cracker jax box.. thats fine but there was a dive and rescue team there! they are supposed to know what they are doing, and they might have, but no one would listen to them!  these people may be VOLUNTEERS as you so clearly stated but they VOLUNTEER to save peoples lives they should take the time to take the trainging so something like this doesnt happen again.
