I have asked but got no response.
One of the major beefs I and others have with the current and past Township Supervisors is their total lack of ability to communicate effectively with the residents of Newton. Furthermore, they cannot grasp the simplest forms of communication (like a mass mailing) either because they are inept or they don't give a damn or both.
The last mass mailing to the residents was over 5 years ago with the last garbage contract debacle. The whole sordid affair is well documented on this site.
The Supervisors finally had someone set up a "Township" web site where the minutes of the meetings and other information is posted but those minutes are usually a month or more behind. I suspect the Township's legal mouthpiece has to sign off on them first. Plus the minutes contain acronyms and abbreviations that most of us have no idea what they mean. In other words, the minutes are written for only the supervisors to understand, not the residents.
The Township's web site, while good in principal, does not address or help those who do not have access to the Internet or have no idea it exists. The site does have an Email option and I did Email my concerns and questions (over the new surprise garbage contract) on their site over a week ago but got no response. What good is it if no one in the Township reads their Email? Maybe they don't know what Email is yet. Or perhaps they hope I go away. Or perhaps they only recognize questions only from those who come to the meeting??
If any business organization was run like these guys run it, they would be fired. This is one group where a communications consultant is sorely needed.
