Flood of 2006

Postby JoeP » Sat Jul 01, 2006 3:49 pm

Been quiet on this site for a long time.

I would be interested in hearing how Newton residents fared during the recent deluge of rain.  I measured 14 inches of rain on my deck.  Beaver Pond Road washed out and is impassable.  The road buckled by the creek and while the new concrete culvert held, it couldn't handle the amount of water coming through.  The water came over it and piled rocks on top and went around it take part of the road and buckling the rest.

Who will fix it and when is the question.  But there is a bright side - the traffic on Beaver Pond is near zero (residents only) so that's not bad!  A lot of people use Beaver Pond as a short cut to and from the Boulevard.

How did everyone else do?

Joe,
It wasn't bad at all here on the top of the mountain.
Our road did wash a bit, even though the township had just worked it and even oiled one side. They came right up and fixed it.
All in all I guess the township as a whole did fairly well, especially considering what other areas had happen.
I was talking to folks from Old Forge tonigh and theywere hit pretty hard.

It will be interesting to see who repairs Beaver Pond Rd again. It seems we just settled the last incident, as far as govermental bodies are concerned.
