Mailbox Vandalism

1/10/06 between 6:00-8:00 pm- My mailbox was hit by a brick.
As I drive around Newton (especially Forest Acre Dr. and Summit Lake Rd) I see I am not alone. It seems every other mailbox is smashed, dented or askew.

Does anyone have any leads? This more of a criminal epidemic then youthful pranks. This is how it starts. The degradation of our fair township.
What's next? Break-ins, Arson, Murder, Prostitution.
I never thought I say this but I am looking into an alarm system for my home. So much for South Abington Police Dept.

Mail box bashing has occurred previously and it seems to come in cycles.

Make sure you report it to the Post Office - I believe it is a Federal offense and if the bashers are caught, it is going to result in a serious crimp in their college and career plans - even if their daddy is a lawyer.

Also, I know of one person who has installed one of those remote/standalone cameras that are activated by movement and sound.  Giving the postal authorities a picture of the perpetrators and/or their license plate number will end their career in crime much faster.
