Road problems!!!

Postby susie » Sun Apr 03, 2005 6:03 pm

Hi! I thought I'd start a new topic that might be very useful in the future, especially with the bad weather our area seems to be suffering from lately. On the right side of the 45 degree turn on Valley View Drive between Summit Lake Road heading towards Forest Acres Drive by the big gray and red barn, the road has been undercut by the recent rain that had flooded the side of the road.  Cones have been put up as a warning, but it's a tight turn.  If you come around this turn headed in the direction of Forest Acres Drive you may want to try to give the corner a wide berth as it has been undercut very deeply. This undercut cannot be seen from the road.

If anybody else has any bad road problems they would like to make the people of the township aware of - potholes, parts or roads washed away, broken or missing traffic signs, feel free to post here.  I feel that it is always good to have a heads up about any problem that can be the possible cause of an accident if a person driving is not aware of a change in road conditions.

township roads

I know the township needs to start keeping up with the ditches better. over here on cherry hill road they are filled with dirt and debris. they put in cider blocks a while ago that have since caved in. the water run off is very bad since it has nowhere to go.

Shaffer was the roadmaster but he's gone. I don't know who the deputy was though any sup should be able to handle these situations.
The work session is Wed. the 6th and the regular meeting is Monday the 11th.
The public needs to bring these issues up at either or preferably both.
I won't be at the work session as I have another meeting.

Hi all, I should have wrote sooner, but the township was out Monday and fixed the trouble at Valley View Drive.  All is well until the next heavy rain event.           Also, I do not know how far underneath the road the water undercut the pavement,  but I hope the road crew were able to push dirt and gravel far enough under to prevent any buckling problems in the future.

P.S.  I started this topic more as an alert to the driving public than to bring it to the township's attention.   If you drive a road everyday or quite frequently, often you can become a little lax when it comes to paying attention to a new hazard that has developed on the road.  (At least I do.    )  I figure if someone sees something like a big pothole or something that develops almost over night, it might be good to post it so that others can be aware of it and avoid it until the township fixes it.
