Special Meeting

March 29, 2004

Board Members in Attendance:  John Pardue, Lee Jamison, and Gary Martenson

Absent:  John Shaffer and T.J. Kerrigan

Board Guests in Attendance: Francine Miller, Secretary/Treasurer

Meeting called to order at 7:38PM with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

Pardue opened the meeting stating that the purpose of this meeting was to discuss the adoption of Ordinance 1-2004 entitled An Ordinance Regulating the Source and Collection of Municipal Solid Waste Placed for Disposal within the Corporate Limits of Newton Township.  This meeting was duly advertised in the Scranton Times.

After much discussion, motion by Jamison to accept a five-year contract with Waste Management and accept Ordinance 1-2004 after the senior citizen discount of 35% and the low-income discount of 50% is added and the bulky waste fee is eliminated from the ordinance, 2^nd by Martenson.  Motion voted, all in favor.

Motion by Jamison to adjourn, 2^nd by Martenson.  Motion voted, all in favor.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
