Candidates for township supervisor

Postby davidk » Fri Feb 13, 2009 9:05 pm

Most people may not be aware of it but this is a municipal election year, which means we have a seat for supervisor opening.
Gary Martenson has made it quiet clear he will NOT be seeking reelection.

I know there are several people, at least, who visit tis site reguarly who are not happy with the way things are being handled in the township. well, here's your chance to step up and do something by running.

Tuesday Feb 17 is the opening day to circulate nominating petitions, with a three week period to garner the names, get the petition notarized, and submitted to the county board of elections, with a financial disclosure form filed with the township secretary. All you need are the forms, available at the elections office on Jefferson Ave. and ten names of registered voters in your party of choice, D or R.
Note, independent and "third party" candidates need not apply for the primary. They have until the summer to get the paperwork together, with different requirements (I'm not kidding, we have a two tier election system in Pa. despite it being in direct violation of the state constitution, which also makes the primary illegal).

Then it's off to the races.

It's quite likely that the election will be decided in the primary if a candidate can sew up both party nominations with a write in on the opposite side.

Now is your chance, candiates are needed to make the system work, lest it remain busines as ususal.

don't look to me to run again. Been ther done that. Not to mention I am retired from politics.
I'm just here to read the posts.
