Nickel and Dimed to Death

The garbage fee just went up a $1.74 a quarter (or 58 cents a month) and I just noticed on the Adelphia (Highway Robbery) bill a statement saying "a new contract between Adelphia and your municipality has resulted in what Adelphia pays your municipality". Of course, they pass this fee onto their Newton customers. It was 97 cents a month, now it's a $1.42 or 45 cents more. If there are say 500 cable subscribers in Newton, that $225 more a month (paid by the residents) in Newton's coffer's.
I guess the supervisors would say they are holding the line on garbage and cable expenses. Others would say no big deal, it's the cost of doing business, inflation and/or (my favorite) bracket creep. Perhaps the township supervisor's think if they nickel and dime us slowly we won't notice or complain. No matter, I don't think the residents are getting a fair shake.
Satellite is an alternative but I have to many trees blocking the SW sky otherwise I would dump the cable pig for good. I also understand there may be other garbage haulers who will service individual Newton residents for $2.50 a bag. Lakeland Sanitation may be one but I'm not sure.
