Country Club Road

This being my first winter here in Newton I have noticed we get a good bit of snow when no one else has any. I have to travel Country Club road to get my children to and from the Abington Hts. Middle School. On Sunday when we had snow and windy conditions I noticed all of the drifting across Country Club Road from the Morgan Hwy. end to Newton Ransom Blvd. What I would like to know is why the two golf courses are not requied to put up snow fences?? The road is heavily traveled and when drifting occurs it is EXTREMELY hazaradous!! There must be 10 different Abington school buses that travel that road daily and Monday morning it was a huge mess!!!
It just frustrates me to see that sort of lack of consideration for those of us who have to travel that way! I put up a fence to prevent drifting on my road and I think these big money making business should have to do the same. Thanks for letting me vent.

Good question. Considering the Country Club has the area's most elite and affluent as members they surely have the best resources to address the drifting snow.
You may notice some other "oddities" with the Country Club golf course. After a heavy summer rain the water run off on the side of Country Club road looks like soapy water from all the chemicals (fertilizer and insecticides) they use on the greens to make them pristine. Makes you wonder what's they are putting into the ground.
On the other hand, despite those years when there were droughts, the Country Club's sprinklers were quite active lowering the local water table.

Hi the1kween, Why don't you try calling them or mailing them a letter with the suggestion and see what they do then? I figure it never hurts to ask and maybe it might bring it to their attention that there is a hazardous problem. Maybe, the township will get lucky

and they will just go ahead and fix the problem!!!!
Thanks

I appreciate the input. Susie, I may just do that and see if I can get anywhere with them. Would be nice if they put a fence up.
And JoeP., it makes you wonder what is coming out of the wells of folks that live between the 2 courses on Country Club Road! YIKES>

the1kween,
Welcome to the board.
If you think CC is bad try getting across Summit Lake Road, especially near Pallmans turn, even though that is in SA.
CC is a state road so you will have to take it up with Penndot. In the meantime get a baseball bat and start whacking yourself in the forehead. Trust me, it's less painful and more productive.
Seriously, I haven't seen snow fencing deployed in many years. Somewhere along the line it just went the way of eight tracks.
The township used to have it all over the place, including here on our road. It really did help.
As for the water quality. I would definetly have mine tested if I lived anywhere near there.
not surprised

yea I kinda figured that was the way it was going to be. Maybe if I call pendot and rant and rave enough they'll better the situation??!! I'm sure it will be a collassal waste of time.
