Garbage Contract Time Again

For those of you who care to remember, this site was started because of the major garbage contract debacle and inept township supervisors who drew up and agreed to a new 5 year contract with Waste Management.  This contract will expire 12-31-2008.  Yes, some of us don't forget.

So the Township Supervisors will get another turn at bat because it is garbage contract renewal time.  I wonder if our Newton elected officials are going to put their self interests first, and/or Waste Management interests first or perhaps, just perhaps the best interests of Newton Residents first.  Did they put the garbage contract renewal out for bids or will it be business as usual with WM?  Just renew the contract with no questions asked.  Let's see what kind of "deal" we get to live with for the next 5 years.

Of interest, there has been no mention of a new garbage contract in the minutes of the various township meetings posted on the web site maintained by the Township.  Another autumn surprise?
