Lawn Tractor for Parts & Newton Recycling Center

Postby JoeP » Mon May 08, 2006 4:02 pm

I was looking for a place to drop off my my old Sears Lawn tractor - the transmission broke and at 22 years of age it isn't worth putting money into.  Furthermore, I know the transmission parts it needs but they are no longer made, although they can be duped in a machine shop.

Waste Management won't take it (I called) and I didn't just want to push it into the woods on my property, I wanted to dispose of it properly.  When I searched the web I discovered Newton Township is sill listed as a recycling center - see this link -> http://pennsylvania.earth911.org/usa/master.asp?s=ls&type=1  Also note it says service is avaialble to residents of Clarks Summit - not Newton.

Well we all know it is no more but the supervisors forgot to removed it from this site.

Anyway, Fiegleman's on Morgan highway will take it.  It will be around for a few more days - so if anyone wants it for parts they can have it for free.  Engine still runs good, it is 14 HP 2 cylinder Briggs & Stratton, the 44 inch deck is solid and nearly complete.  Maintenance records and manuals included.

The fact that Clarks Summit is mentioned is why we need to have our addresses corrected. It's the fault of the USPS.
A homeowner in Newton recenetly sent thier building permit application to CS!
