Cell tower? Gas drilling?

Postby chocolatemilk » Sun Aug 18, 2013 4:27 pm

What is that towering structure rising high above the tree line across the street from the middle school?  Is it a cell tower?  Is it something for gas drilling?  Is that state land where that tower is?

Welcome chocolatemilk,

I’ll check it out the next time I go by there.  It is most likely a cell tower or equivalent.  It could also be a water well driller.  Everyone has water wells around here.

I can tell you that it has nothing to do with gas wells because there are none around here and it is unlikely that there will be.

None of the gas companies are interested in drilling around here and the few leases that some have are about to expire.

Sal, were you able to drive by there or hear anything?  Is it a water tower?  or a drill for a well?  Anyone else hear anything?  There are 44 views of this post and no one but Sal has made a peep.  Come on people let's share information.

The water tower is to serve Clarks Summit, not Newton. It is on the grounds of the Fire Training Center and the township had no say in its construction as it is built by a public utility.
The problem is there is low pressure in Clarks Summit so they built the tower to improve it.

Hey HomeTown, I'm sorry that it took so long for your post to show up.  I think I have that problem fixed.

If anyone's post doesn't show up or if anyone perceives some other problem, please use the email link at the bottom of this page or the contact form on the main page to report it.

What davidk said is correct and I think that the tower will be providing a backup water supply to the school and the Clarks Summit State Hospital.

In addition, it will increase pressure to fire hydrants and it was mentioned that the school will be getting a new fire hydrant.
